Emmert sues city over Middle Avenue payment dispute

J W Emmert Jr sues the city in a hearing before Judge Hayien, with President H M Andregs, City Auditor Frank R Fauver, and Emmert as witnesses. He seeks to restrain payment of $20,000 to Barber Asphalt for Middle Avenue improvement, claiming $56,000 was illegally expended because funds were not in the treasury when the project was authorized. Central Ohio and C. S. W. to Consolidate Traction Lines

President Pomeroy of both Central Ohio and C. and S. W. traction lines told the Reporter on Tuesday that a traction amalgamation is likely. He said the two systems touch at several points and share closely allied interests, and while they will consolidate traffic handling the terms prevent immediate action.

Columbus March 14 The disappearance of a 1460 dollar check ties to the trial of Gedree M Collier formerly of Elyria. Prosecution accuses embezzlement from state funds drawn by Collier when he was state examiner of stationary engineers. Key witnesses include State Labor Commissioner Rachford and state officials.

Building Contractors Sue for Money in Elyria

Kaatman and Bradley building contractors filed suit against Christian W and Bele Thielman and George Bone of Elyria for 7055 dollars. The claim states they erected a house for the Thielmans in Elyria and the total cost remains unpaid. A mortgage on the house is noted. The Elyria Gun Club will hold a sheet on Wednesday at 2 p.m. on their grounds.

After 32 years of service Druggist Henry J. Eady sells to Harry A. Crandall who will run the H J Eady drug store. Crandall, wh o was Eady’s clerk for nine years, plans to keep the business's established reputation. Eady will not retire fully and will pursue other interests, while Crandall brings twelve years of apothecary experience and strong local trust.

Offenders To Be Made To Work In City Streets

Mayor Folger plans to reinstate a system of making tramps and petty offenders work to pay fines. The city previously lacked funds to support prisoners but now a $400 appropriation exists for the first half of 1905. Prisoners would cost 40 cents daily and may be set to work in Cascade Park to aid street cleaning.
