The gathering was no surprise to him as a ruse detained him from his office until guests arrived. After a seven course dinner the group escorted Stevens to the front parlor where Lee Day presented him a dine office chair. He accepted with fitting remarks. The evening ended with games and music.

Walden Arrested in Criminal Assault Case
Joe Walden was arrested Friday morning by Constable Cahoon after being released from jail for assault and battery. Morcury Coleman, living at Walden’s boarding house in Coonville, swore out a warrant charging him with criminal assault. Walden reportedly blocked the witness’s eyes with his slipper at the first hearing. He was committed to jail under a $500 bond by Justice Lawrence to appear for trial on Saturday, March 2.
