Parker Dies From Appendicitis in Elyria
H. M. Parker, grand commander of the Knights of the Maccabees for Ohio and former Elyria public schools superintendent, died at his West Third Street home after a brief illness. Five physicians treated him as an appendicitis attack proved inoperable due to weakness. His funeral was held Sunday with a large turnout from many Maccabee orders and local groups. Parker, age about sixty, was born in Licking County, educated at Marietta College, and served as a longtime educator before dedicating his later years to Maccabee work. He leaves a wife and three children, Charles, Dr. George, and Mary Parker.
