Lorain County delegates reported satisfaction with the convention results. On the first ballot Pattison led with 2, Neal 1, Welty at Kilbourne 4. on the second ballot the vote was split 8 to 8 between Pattison and Welty.
For the first time since Nat ional Tube Co. located in Lorain the plant will shut down Sunday night and about ao men will have a ration over the Fourth. The furnaces will be banked and all departments except the shaping and tube mills will be idle for a week.
A brief notice advertises a pediatric cough remedy called The Children’s Favorite Wor Cough Cure. It claims to treat coughs croup whooping cough and related symptoms without opiate content and is sold by HOA Dyke.
Ravenna Ohio June 29. The Pennsylvania Flyer traveling at 60 miles an hour from Cleveland to Pittsburgh was wrecked near Atwater station east of Ravenna. One man C M Munhall of Cleveland was instantly killed and the engineer R A Baldwin of Cleveland is dying in Alliance hospital. Nearly a score of other people, mostly passengers, sustained injuries with at least two in critical condition.
The advertisement claims strong bodies come from perfect digestion not food quantity. Koco Dyspepsia Cure supposedly digests food, nourishes blood and tissues, and strengthens the system. It lists indigestion belching sour stomach and weak heart as conditions it cures, sold by H Al Dykema. Instant relief Brazovan Balm also offered.
A disputed note in the Chronicle criticizes the Reporter for lacking news depth and resorting to “feature stuff.” The piece defends the Reporter’s handling of local events, argues the Chronicle exaggerates public interest, and asserts the Reporter’s restraint amid ongoing feuds.
S. W. Hausbury, the first colored attorney to locate in Elyria, has come here from Cleveland to open an office. He is well known among colored people in Cleveland, Oberlin and Elyria and draws patronage from them.
The Asylum of Elyria Commandery U D Knights Templar holds a Pharadwy evening at Work-Temple and Malta on June 29. A health tonic Braailian Balm is advertised with a 15 dose bottle for 10 cents.
