Five colored men Wheeler Kimbrow Lorenzo Martin Walter Stratton Richard and Will Poetsferd were arraigned before Judge Buckland Monday and pleaded not guilty to the murder of Otto Mischke. The case will proceed at the next term of court in October. Two Poetsferds posted $3500 bond each. Martin, once Oberlin resident, was noted as a law abiding citizen. The killing occurred during a strike at the Shear works in Fremont.
The Elyria division of the MC A Military Company lies disbanded for the summer. The move risks lower performance, as Lorain’s company plans to surpass them, prompting a call for Elyria members to rekindle the “Lorain Spirit” and boost their own unit.

Mrs Carrie A Hale wife of Hon John C Hale judge of the circuit court died at the family residence 1749 Euclid avenue after months of illness. She was sixty nine. Born in Salem Mass she came to Cleveland with parents and married in 1859. Survived by her husband and Hon John G Hale three sisters and two brothers including Mrs Mary J Smith Mrs Eva Jewett Miss Hattie Sanborn Was Herold Sanborn
