The Senior class of EHS was entertained by Miss Leous Heidemver at the home of her parents on Middle Avenue on Friday night. Fifty six of the fifty seven members attended, and the evening was described as not very pleasant though tempered by sadness at the approaching parting as they prepare to enter the world.

George Helfrich a helper on the docks of the steel plant was struck on the head by a heavy rail and instantly killed at 11:16 Friday morning. He had been fastening rails to the derrick chain when the rails slipped free from the chain and crushed him. Fellow workers and Dr. Baldwin attempted aid but he died instantly. He was 41, married 10 years. Coroner Vrensh rendered a verdict.
Rev Charles Reichlin of Lorain fires a pointed letter to a local paper accusing police and investigators of false testimony and sensational claims in the murder of Reichlin’s sister. He denies reports about trousers found, denies meeting detectives at his door, and attacks Detective Mintz’s public boasts as unfounded. He warns of ulterior motives and asserts the story’s sensationalism harms truth.
The Cleveland Automobile Club announced its mopant run will proceed and that Owens will bring five or more automobiles to Elyria for the big parade on the morning of July 4. Members own some of the finest machines in the club.
The Lorain County WCTU holds its fourteenth annual convention at the Disciple Church in Lorain on June 10. Mrs. L A K Olmstedt and Mrs. E K Doolittle of Elytria are among those presenting papers.
Vermilion reports no new smallpox cases but existing patients deteriorate. Orville Brooks remains critically ill with the disease, and Mrs. Guy Davis is very ill though getting care. Brooks’s sister, another patient, is also very low and may not survive. No fresh developments are noted.
