Col Myron P Herrick the next governor of Ohio passed through Elyria Friday en route to Wellington. He was accompanied by his wife and Mrs Gray, the party took dinner at the Andwur. Sunday they returned home, reaching Elyria about eight o'clock, with Henry Chishom of Cleveland joining Col Herrick here Sunday and all returning to Cleveland together. Automobiles were the conveyance.
Announcement states Frank Salisbury son of Sheriff C H Salisbury and Mise Alta Collier daughter of G M Collier chief of the state board of examiners of stationary engineers of Columbus will be married in Cleveland in June.
The ladies of the Eastern Star hosted King Solomon's lodge at Ellis' hall on Friday. M H Levagood was master of ceremonies. A musical program featured solos by Mrs. Wilford and Miss Drout, a violin by Miss Bath, with epilogues by Judge Nye, Clayton Chapman and Charles R Flower. Light refreshments followed and dancing. The group, though newly organized locally, already holds a prominent social position.
A headend collision occurred last Wednesday morning on the Cleveland and Southern line near Puritas Springs junction in Rockport at a sharp curve. The line car and the heavy baggage and express car collided. Express messenger Ed Kiedler was badly injured and Montorman H T Smith, though not seriously hurt, was badly shaken. Smith escaped likely death by jumping as the front of his car was demolished.
Noted attorney H. G. Redington of North Almherst will move to Elyria. He purchased 100 feet of a Broad Street lot from Charles I Ely and plans to build a modern residence, a fine addition to the town.
Elyria Athletic Club fell to the Nuggets of Cleveland by 6 to 1 on Decoration Day. The game was clean with no disputes. Elyria, belying its strength, showed improvement from hard practice despite matching difficulties. No Saturday morning game due to memorial exercises. afternoon match drew a large crowd.
Elyria officials seek a 7 mill levy for running expenses based on a $8.8 million property value, nearing the 10 mill cap under the new code. The Lorain county community mourns Jarvis Meach who died in Rochester township after sustaining brutal injuries from masked intruders on October 14, 1903. The youngest of four hermit brothers, he fought back with a shotgun, killing two burglars and wounding two others who were jailed for life. Loren Meach died soon after, and Jarvis is hailed for his bravery in defending his home and wealth in a tragic tale of greed.

School chorus sang, graves decorated, and processions to the cemetery followed by services by Richard Allen post and Harmony Male quartet.
Detectives Mintz and Goldsmith report they are leaving Lorain after failing to solve the Reichlin murder. Officials say there is insufficient evidence for arrest, indictment, or reopening the inquest, with a grand jury session unlikely. The crime remains one of the county’s most atrocious and mysterious cases.
The newly announced half hour schedule, delayed by power issues, takes effect June 1. Western division trains from Norwalk to Oberlin Elyria and Public Square Cleveland run on the half hour from 5 30 am to 7 30 pm, with half hour service between Elyria and Public Square Cleveland from 7 am to 9 pm. Cleveland to Elyria and Oberlin runs hourly 6 30 pm to 7 30 pm, extending half hour service to Cleveland Elyria 6 30 am to 10 30 pm. Mr G Kelble spent Sunday in Cleveland.
