Puzzle cards yield ten dollar gold prize and rail mileage figures
A historic note recalls a circa December draw where Mrs. J. E. Riley solved a geometry puzzle first, winning $10 in gold, followed by John Kaiser and others. The item then shifts to rail mileage statistics, listing 1850 to 1900 figures for the United States and comparative data for other nations, including Italy and India, with a 1901 update proposal. It also records court cases: Day vs Avera Asphalt Paving, Huett estate, Taney insanity ruling, and Kemp estate probate details.
