One of the county's largest funerals in years was held for Cosby Irish on Thursday. Two local residents traveled to the farm east of town, Avon residents packed the large house, and about 400 people attended. Roy Cook delivered the eulogy praising Mr Trish's character. Burial took place at Garfield Cemetery on the ridge.
Hawkes a Kilby Company worker from Cleveland suffered severe eye burns while pouring molten iron into moulds at the Fox Karnaco works in Elyria. Doctors initially feared loss of sight but now expect to save the eye. Mrs Catherine Valerius of East Broad Street died at 64 from heart failure after a long Elyria residence, with funeral planned at St Marys Church.
Homer W Feasel sues Sandusky Cooperage and Lumber Co in the common pleas court alleging a partnership forming the Grafton Stave Company and a later buyout by the defendant. Feasel charges misallocation of earnings, discharge to enable misused firm funds, and seeks accounting and proper remedies. Attorney names for plaintiff listed.
Lorain faces a surge in property activity after news that a tube mill may locate there. Hundreds of thousands in property options have been taken, with deals closing and speculation that the United States Steel Corporation plans will boost population to 60,000 in five years. The mill could employ 3,000 workers, boosting payrolls and city revenue. The city had planned $200,000 in river and harbor improvements tied to locating a major industry, now set to begin.
Margaret A Pifer of Cleveland wins 4000 for injuries after a Cleveland Electric Ry Co car started as she tried to alight. The long contested case began in Cuyahoga County, with venue change last year. Costs largely fall on the county as neither party resides there. Rose LeClair sues George E LeClair for divorce on habitual drunkenness with three children. Alimony and custody sought. LB Vauger is attorney.
Colonel Myron T Herrick objects to billboard lithographs in his campaign for governor saying he dislikes the practice and would vote against candidates plastering their likenesses. He notes he will run a lean headquarters and expects party leaders may ignore his stance if nominated.
The Avon Trinity congregation hosted a successful Shrove Tide Festival with strong donations from locals and visitors. Frank Baldani won the watch contest. funds raised exceeded $650 from the event while preparations for a new car line near French Creek and landscape work at Trinity Park were also noted.
G W Steven says he will not enter the race despite unsolicited support. The notice lists Milo Richie, 29, engineer, Lodi and Mable Jackson, 27, Penfield in the same item.
