City debates forcing Central and West to vacate a Broad Street bridge used by a traction line. Officials clash over widening versus removal and whether the bridge can safely bear tracks. Mayor Folger fines Charles Nostram $5 for intoxication.
A petition signed by 20 residents from Amherst and Henrietta townships asks the C S W Electric company to study a trolley line linking Amherst to Henrietta and South Amherst. Open quarries at South Amherst and Henrietta drive demand. about 8000 residents would benefit and local quarry firms employ hundreds. The Ohio Quarry Company leads the project and landowners along the route are ready to grant rights of way.
The council approved plans to improve City Hall on Tuesday by passing an ordinance for issuing bonds valued at 12 000 dollars and an ordinance to authorize the work. Architect Waringer’s plans were approved with the support of the building and financial committees.
Council may abolish the East Brides street and Washington avenue grade crossings. Councilman Smith cited estimates from a Cleveland engineer placing an overhead bridge cost between 18 000 and 19 000 dollars and a foot bridge over the tracks at 4 000 to 35 000 dollars, referred to the bridge committee.

Topics include certification renewal, substitute teacher qualifications, teacher excusal from literature exams, and how pay relates to efficiency. Sixteen units participate in the high school course.
The power house work at the steel plant will finish in three or four days. Ellis and Chambers engines supply Weatinghouse generators rated at 3011 hp with 6600 volt output. The No blow furnace blow engine will be tested soon as crews relocate experienced workers.
