A reader endorses Electric Bittura from Daentur Alo through Mya Newsom, claiming three years of agony from indigestion and related ailments ended after using the medicine. The letter promotes the product as a guaranteed cure for indigestion appetite issues bowel and liver kidney troubles, sold at Ho Bady's drug store for oc cents.
The Gentral Passenger association issues a special one fare round trip to all members for the State Convention of Chigtinn Endeworers at Blyriv from June 16 to 28 1903. The rate applies over much of the state for passage in either direction with return by June 28. W. Q O Williams chairman Transportation Committee.
An old advertisement note lists openings at Fay Stocking mill including a licensed engineer familiar with electric machinery and a drossmaker. It also calls for eight more girls ages 1 to 18 to work in the knitting room and mentions other local employment opportunities plus medical patent promotions and remedies of the era.
Advertises an 87 acre farm in Raa sin township four miles from Elyria with good land water and buildings in good condition. Offers test well before purchase and notes permission to inspect. Also promotes Kodol digestive aid with testimonial praise from Mrs. Cranfill and H A Dyke man.
An advertisement touts jewels and female prestige while warning women toward health preservation. It promotes Dr Boschee's German Syrup as a timely aid to arrest early consumption and heal lungs and bronchial tubes. The ad notes availability from H J Eudy and mentions Green's Special Almanac.
Winchester Ind resident M M Austin credits Dr Kings New Life Pills with curing his wife and promoting health. The ad promotes the pills as remedies for stomach and liver troubles, constipation and headaches, priced 25 cents at J Enady's drug store.
The Chamber of Commerce met in the council rooms to review the new municipal code. Prominent business leaders attended as the board of public service salaries dominated the discussion, with opinions split between high pay for capable officials and modest stipends to attract patriotic service. Officers elected were President CC Ensign, 1st VP Dd Nye, 2nd VP AL Garford, Secretary C E Tucker, and Treasurer H7 Leonard. directors EX M Andress, OH Savage, CG Washburn, and FH Foster.
A banquet honored Judge Caldwell at the Hollendem hotel in Cleveland Friday night with attendance from Northern Ohio legal circles. Caldwell nears retirement after years of faithful service and was represented by Hon. EB G Johnson G Washburn and H W Ingersoll. Funeral notice for Mrs Effie D Graves widow of WM Graves, aged 81, set for Feb 9 at 235 pm from Harrison street home. Carpenters union held Friday meeting at Odd Fellows hall electing officers and signaling a push for shorter hours.
The Order of the Eastern Star was organized by the wives of Blyna Masons on Friday night. Officers were elected. Delegations from the Lorain and Oberlin chapters were present.
A lighthearted tale from the neighborhood recalls a bashful young man who stayed at a girl's house during a long rainstorm. She prepared a bed while he explained he went home to fetch his night shirt. The luncheon club was entertained by Mrs. Stacy Miller on Friday afternoon.
Lorain faced a Thursday morning water crisis when pumping failed around 6:30 due to ice clogging the intake. Ice heaps stretch a half mile into the lake, forcing closures at American Stamping and Shovel and National Stove Works. Water is pumped from a lake well to maintain forty pounds pressure, but is undrinkable.
President King announced a new gift of 15000 from F Norton Finner to add to the earlier 56000 bequest, bringing the total to about 78000 with interest. The chapel fund aims to 390000 and will memorialize the late President Finney. Construction to begin once plans arrive and a 3000 seat capacity is planned. Insurance for the burned chapel was adjusted to 12000.
Six students will speak at Oberlin College's annual oratorical contest next Tuesday evening in the First Church. The winner will represent Oberlin at the Northern Oratorical League contest in Minneapolis.
The Congregational church of Ridgeville invites nearby churches to attend a council to ordain Rev Frank Crowe newly appointed pastor. The date is set for February 11 with delegates and pastors from First church Lorain Elyria Amherst Olmstead and First church Oberlin among those attending. Eminent divines from northern Ohio will be present.
A packed crowd at the ME church last night filled the Kharan floor and gallery. Visitors from Lorain and Berea attended as the gang service showed strong enthusiasm and a sermon on the text There is a way that seemeth right unto man.
