Mrs Nancy Hill longtime Elyria resident died at her East Broad Street home after a weeklong paralysis following a stroke. Daughter of Hiram Wittlesey, she leaves four sons. Funeral from her home Wednesday at 1 PM with burial in Elyria Cemetery.
A two year old left alone in Lorain on Saturday afternoon alerted passersby when he struck a window as fire broke out in the rear of a stove. Bystanders entered the house and, with quick action, the infant helped direct rescuers to the sitting room as firefighters were summoned and the blaze extinguished.
In Cleveland on Saturday plans for a new Lake Erie and Pittsburgh steam road were announced. Construction will begin April 1 with bids to be let within two weeks. Backed by the Vanderbilt system the line will run as the Lake Shore to Youngstown, joining the Pittsburg and Lake Erie to link the New York Central with Pittsburg. The Little Giant line between Youngstown and Pittsburg may be transferred to the Erie system.
Amherst board mulls lowering commercial electric lighting charges after discovering about 300 percent profit from the village plant run by a gasoline engine. The system serves 42 arc street lamps and many incandescent fixtures, with 25 cent monthly rates for businesses and residences and roughly 52 dollars yearly per street lamp.

Wellington resident William Rents Harrison Sutliff died Sunday afternoon at age nearly 92. Born in Connecticut, he came via Cleveland to the village and was a lifelong Republican who voted in every presidential election since reaching adulthood.
Clark Williams a longtime Dover village resident died of heart failure Saturday at his home. He was described as a pioneer of Dover and was aged 980 years. Funeral services were held at his home on Monday afternoon.
A long list of potential jurors was drawn from the wheel at the courthouse as 86 names were narrowed to 12 to try Ward Os Ca McAlpine for the murder of his wife The names include Coulson Rowland Chester Austic Allyn Tolhurst Vaughn Hines Currier Sooy Bartholomew Wade Culbertson Kerst Smith Mennek Day Pratt Granger Knight Pratt Adams and others The trial is set to commence March 4th amid courtroom proceedings and local coverage.

A foreigner named John Pope jumped in front of a Cleveland and Southwestern car on Spring Street Lorain at 9 43 after night and was knocked down the back fence feet. He was taken to St Joseph's hospital where restoratives were administered and he is slowly recovering. Witnesses said he appeared heavily drunk and the act looked like an attempted self harming act.
