A deadly wreck on the C and S W southern division occurred near a switch when a fur brakes failed. Motorman Henry Hoffenburg, about 35, died a few hours after the collision. He leaves a wife and several children and was a longtime road employee residing in Berea. Other passengers sustained only minor injuries.
The circuit judges of Ohio met in Columbus and urged the legislature to fix their uniform compensation at 98000 a year, replacing the current 1000 state salary plus 3500 to 32000 additional pay. They also backed a law for uniform publication of circuit reports and approved a plan allowing each district to appoint a district stenographer for three years at 1200 a year.

A sharpers visit to a local Elyria furniture shop led to a $710 loss after posing as a Westinghouse Electrical rep and securing $258 worth of goods with a forged check. The suspect, using a London bank connection, vanished with the furniture order. Separately, Cleveland Southwestern Traction plans ten new interurban Rex cars for spring delivery.
A man named Henry Sohmarsk of Nurth street slipped on a jog near Third atreat on Tuday and fell dislocating his hip. He then rose and walked a block before his hip gave way again.

The Cleveland and Southwestern line between Lorain and Elyria was tied up Wednesday morning for about thirty five minutes due to a quarrel between two employed motormen at Amherst Junction.
