Heat service dispute dominates council meeting

Four councilmen attended the special session to hear the Citizen's Gas and Electric report on Kent WE service. Loran Steel Mills to Begin Full Operation Soon

New Factory Planned for Avon dale Park Area

Rawson appeared before the council requesting a sewer and water main for Avon dale Park allotment as the Deene Manufacturing Company of Chicago plans to locate a factory on nine acres. The plant will employ about 1000 workers with staged staffing and a building measuring 180 by 106 by 58 feet. Construction starts January 1. The city would need 4000 feet of new water main for surrounding factories. a 20000 dollar waterworks balance may remain after standpipe completion. The matter was referred to the finance committee.
