Picnic Draws Thousands to Elyria Parks in Grand Day
The merchants and manufacturers of Elyria held a major picnic at Linwood and Shadduck's parks drawing thousands, including about 2,000 from Elyria and hundreds from nearby areas. Despite a morning shower, a fine day followed with attractions such as baseball games between Grocers and Barbers, swings, dancing, and an evening at the hall. The grocers led early, but the Barbers rallied to win the match 7 to 1 as crowds enjoyed the festivities throughout the day.

Death of Mrs Gurry in Lorain Ward Four
The death of Mrs. Robert Curry a former Lorain Fourth ward resident occurred at her home on Fourteenth Avenue and West Street Tuesday evening. The funeral will be held Friday at 10 o clock from the home with burial in Elyria Cemetery alongside her child. Rev. Whitycombe will conduct services. She belonged to Lorain Pocahontas and Rathbone lodges and will be mourned by her husband and three small children. Community sympathy is offered to the bereaved family.

Insane man shoots at Avon Beach residents
A disturbed man has fired at least five people near Avon Beach over a week, all shots missing or nearly missing. A target, Morse, and his household were briefly checked as shots shattered window panes. The suspect, thought identifiable, fled into nearby shadows and is feared still at large. Residents fear evening outings as a local physician, a woman from church, and a moonlit couple were among those shot at or near their homes.
