Josnaa Ward a familiar figure in police court, a bricklayer and hoaver, was fined five dollars for intoxication and ordered to work on the streets. He refused, was sent to the workhouse, then repaid the mayor’s kindness with a demand for back wages, later drank and abused officers, and was fined fifty dollars before going to the Cleveland work house.
Lorain County master horse shoers and families plan a picnic at Avon Beach Park with Cleveland journeymen, a ball game, and other attractions while shops close for the national holiday. About 40 members are expected to attend. last year’s gathering was at Put-in-Bay. A schoolteacher’s Nero joke is included in local clippings.

Gladys Haskins, youngest son of Henry Haskins formerly of Huntington, died at Lakeside hospital Cleveland after an operation for appendicitis at age ten. His sister Bell, age thirteen, was also taken to the hospital for the same illness. The Haskins family has suffered multiple losses, including a wife and five children. Mrs. Loogbon, who fell and broke her hip, died July 31 after long pain, leaving eight children, twenty six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services were led by Rev. Arly. Several locals attended beaches, picnics, and visits. neighbors and relatives traveled from Michigan and Iowa for funerals and family gatherings.
Frederick A. Henry is chosen by acclamation as the Republican candidate for circuit judge at the Eighth Judicial Circuit convention. The circuit includes Cuyahoga, Lorain, Summit, and Medina counties. Hale withdrew late, leaving Henry as the sole candidate with 127 votes cast. distribution favored Henry’s camp in Cuyahoga and Summit, while Lorain and Medina split differently.
John Hanke, 38, laborer, of Lorain, and Mary Kis, 19, servant, of Lorain, received a marriage license this week.
