Theodore Kinney and Eliza Kinney sue Big Our for 10000 and 35000 respectively claiming injuries from a May 16, 1908, incident in La Grange township. Attorneys A E Lawrence and Q A Gilmore state the railroad embankment lacked guard rails and the horse threw the couple from their rig, injuring Kinney with three broken ribs and bruises and Kinney’s wife with a disabling arm injury.
Dr. W O Pair and colleagues report to Captain W Pole after examining thirty horses condemned for glanders by Dr. Paul Fisher. They split the herd into condemned, suspicious, and healthy groups, recommend destroying the condemned, quarantining suspicious, and releasing healthy under surveillance to avert contagion.
An elderly farmer from near Elyria narrowly escaped drowning when a lake outing at Randall's Grove ended with his boat capsizing. He was trapped beneath the craft but was rescued by a grove employee, given dry clothes, and went home vowing never to risk the water again.
Fred Debis of Lorain was jailed in Elyria after a Lorain arrest on theft charges. He faced arraignment before Mayor King on receiving stolen goods. testimony tied shoes to another accomplice, while a $25 fine and 30 day jail term were imposed.

At Oberlin Saturday night a craps game sparked a clash. Elmer Owens and Chester Durham fought after a brick was hurled, injuring Winham Durham and Barrington. Winham was killed by a brick. Durham, Harrington, and Owens were injured and taken for medical care.
A small blaze erupted at 5:36 pm Sunday in the rear of an old wooden building at 763 Broadway, home to the Guarantee Shoe Co. Wind from the northwest spread danger to nearby structures, but rapid response by the Lorain fire department kept damage slight, deemed largely covered by encumbrance. The cause is thought to be an overheated stove pipe passing through a wood partition from the kitchen.
The sixth annual Lorain County Fireman's association convention will be held in North Amherst on Wednesday August 19. Fifteen companies will participate including the Cleveland Volunteer Firemen's Association known as the Old Boys. A grand parade is planned for 1 pm followed by athletic contests in the afternoon and a $1000 fireworks display in the evening.
