A northbound streetcar at Lorain and the Nickel Plate gates narrowly missed a westbound passenger train on a slippery track. The motorman halted the car just before collision. eight passengers hid in the car and escaped unharmed with no injuries reported.

Wilson Taken Back to Iowa from Grafton

Sheriff Jaws and Prose Cuting Attorney Corran of Louisa County brought Clarence Wilson from Elyria after his arrest at Grafton a week earlier. Wilson, held as a model prisoner, had left his home state over a year ago and was located in LaGrange by Iowa officers. A $25 reward for Wilson’s arrest will be paid to Sheriff Salisbury.

Eight more indictments at Inez grand jury session

Eight additional indictments were announced at the Inez grand jury session. Defendants Clara Wilbur John A Schwarta Chas Schwarts Molly Mason Wu Snyder Mand Gry and Fred Barnes, all of Lorain, were bound over by Sheriff Salisbury to appear in common pleas court on charges of keeping houses of ill fame. John Bruck, Lorain, was indicted for maintaining a slop machine.

Alfred Beese 46, of 359 West River Street, died after slipping from a locomotive step at a North Amherst quarry. The 28 year Lake Shore veteran was found mangled beneath wheels and died en route to city medical aid. Funeral next Wednesday at his residence. survived by wife and daughter.

Machinery to excavate with steam digger for Lorain Steel works

A large steam excavator ordered by the Lorain Steel Company arrived Monday. The immensity has two finish and wheels with bread tires for mobility without tracks. It will dig thousands of cubic feet daily and parts will be assembled soon to start work on furnaces and tube mills. Regular Elka lodge meeting set for April 14 with officer installation. Impressive Easter Services At St Marys Elyria

Easter at St Marys church in Elyria drew the grandest crowd yet with Solemn High Mass led by Rev Pastor and deacon Father Heiness S J. Father Zink of Lorain Hospital served as subdeacon and John Kawczynski of Lorain was master of ceremonies. The procession of the Resurrection featured the risen Lord image carried from sepulchre to sanctuary as about 100 children waved natural palms and banners. The choir and orchestra earned high praise for singing and music while clerical vestments shone in gold and white, with altar boys in red and white.

Large Wool Shipment From Wakeman Sets Record

Kellogg and Morris Brosa of Chenin shipped seven car loads of wool from Wakeman totaling 579 sacks and over 100000 pounds. The wool was sent to Boston and marks the largest outbound shipment from the area in several years.
