The Town Council ordains that owners of lots fronting on the west side of Chestnut Street between Byond Street and the Buck School House must, by November 20, 1850, build a sound white sidewalk of uniform width in front of their property or face costs recovered through action. The ordinance also requires owners along the first alley south of Fifth Street to illuminate or pave the Sweet Alley from West Avenue in Main Street by the same date, as enacted by Mayor Mason and City officials.
