A dispatch from Austrian War Press headquarters dated April 8 reports American units joining the Italian front and British and French auxiliaries no longer on the battle line. The exact number of Americans is not given.
Stanford University will not compete in athletic intercollegiate contests for the war duration. Only the Stanford Santa Clara rugby match remains with other institutions suspending major athletics to focus on war training. Military and physical training occupy the curriculum, with six drill periods weekly for ROTC cadets and options for undergraduates during their first two years.
Camp Kearny Calif prepares a new 3000 seat Army theatre where soldiers can gather for mass singing. Lieutenant Will Allen says nightly programs will maximize training and morale as regiments perform together under the guidance of division song director Leroy A. Allen.

May 8 A heated debate over wet and dry rules in Churchill County arose as the county board of supervisors initially rejected then reconsidered a Churchill County Ante Saloon League petition to bar liquor licenses after July 1 192s. The board voted to pass the matter to the fall election, citing that the issue should be decided by the public. The petition had 1200 signatures representing 60 percent of last election's vote. The league had previously raised the question at a joint city council and county league meeting.
Special technique at Camp Kearny San Diego for making Huns used as bayonet training targets for the Sunshine Division. The targets are bundles of sticks covered with hacking and bound by wooden clamps, hung from a frame and lashed with ropes to stay steady during savage thrusts.
