The German official note received in Washington from Ambassador Gerrard is being decoded. The president will likely discuss it with Secretary Lansing today but plans no haste in deciding. The reply raises several new points and multiple angles require consideration.
Last evening at about seven thirty an automobile driven by T J Critchley struck a Chinaman riding a bicycle at the Commercial and Fifth streets intersection. The rider attempted to outrun the car and was bruised but not seriously harmed. Critchley stopped and the injured man was removed to the county hospital. No blame attached to Critchley.
John McBride, an other of the Irish rebellion leaders, faced the firing squad this morning. Hunter and William Cosgrove had their death sentences commuted to life imprisonment. Edwin Duggan, Pierce Bearsley and Joe McGuinness were sentenced to three years imprisonment. 115 hunters and trappers are employed across Nevada and California with 1500 coyotes killed in April.

A Reno man used a novel bad check method to obtain goods for 225 dollars. He tendered a check on a local bank after banking hours, promised to deposit it, and retrieved his goods when the bank later refused payment. The scheme involved using the firm’s endorsement to transfer the check to another holder. Local bankers say the scheme is entirely new in Reno.
