Rome reports Germany rushing large troop movements to reinforce Austria on the Isonzo front near Trieste. Italian and French aircraft bomb four targets around Mugola causing fires and casualties while Italians reportedly seize trenches west of Gorizia and take prisoners.
Weather Bureau reports a destructive West Indian tornado moving toward gulf ports, 160 miles northwest of Jamaica. The storm is one of the worst since September 8, 1900, when Galveston suffered great damage and many lives were lost.
Mr. J. D. Holbert a Los Angeles civic figure purchased the bike Liquor Co. store on Commercial street Elko and will run it as a business men's revert. He chose Elko after touring the state and regards it as the best business town in Nevada. Warner and Berryhill named as bartenders.
Charles E. Hughes Republican presidential nominee arrived in Portland Oregon this morning and spent a quiet day. He plans a formal speech tonight after addressing the Ad club and taking a motor tour of the city.
Seismic shocks hit Plaurro Ak mino and Ancona with many fatalities. Wireless dispatches spark inquiries from London as eruptions surge in Aetna and Stromboli. The selamic disturbance grows more violent than in recent years. Police seek miscreants throwing tacks at motorists.

The State Board of Equalization announced that California will not levy a property tax this year as corporation taxes cover state expenses. This marks a record in the United States for tax policy.
