Washington Aug 17 The Democratic Caucus completed work on the Revenue bill with a hard fought victory for Senator Pittman and Western allies. A 5 percent net profits tax on sales of materials for munition manufacture was limited to direct suppliers and set for one year after the war. The measure exempts mines and allows depletion deductions and offsets.
