C A Gardner of Elko grand chancellor of the Knights of Pythias for Nevada was royally received by White Pine Lodge No 28 in Ely. He spoke on the origin and growth of Pythianism from a few to 800000 members and was greeted by Cyprus Lodge No 33 from McGill. A second rank ritual was shown at McGill and a banquet followed with toasts. Gardner planned visits to Cherry Creek and Wells in the near future.

Altercation Triggers Shooting Near Tonopah
A quarrel over Fraser's wells and Fraser's sale of mineral property at Fraser's cabin five and one half miles north of Tonopah led to a pistol duel. Fraser, aged nearly 85, shot Mike B. Woolridge in the right arm then wrestled for the gun. Woolridge had sold the property to Fred Wilson while Fraser was away. Sheriff Slavin arrested Fraser. preliminary examination not yet set.
