District Court Hears Right of Way Case In Elko County

In Lincoln county Judge Horsey presided as Chas. Black and M. Davis argued for a settlement of their noted Elko county case. Davis had closed gates blocking a ranch access, Black previously secured a temporary injunction. The main issue is whether a permanent injunction will prohibit closing the right of way. Tax rate fixed for this year in Elko county

County commissioners fixed the county tax rate and district rates for Elko and nearby towns. Rates are shown per hundred dollars of valuation for Wells Deeth Starr Valley Metropolis Tuscarora Taber City Carlin Montello Peko Tecoma Cobre Franklin Ventosa and the Town of Elko. State rate is 5.63 dollars and county rate is .80 dollars. These are included in the above rates.

Insane Man Held for Hearing at Local Hotel Take

Constable McMurtrey arrested an insane man Saturday who registered at Mayer Hotel. He gave the name Wm Murray, claimed origin New York, and carried a ticket from Ogden to Carlin with $32 in cash. Sanity examination time not yet fixed, authorities suspect recovery from a spree and alcohol may affect him.

The Supreme Court grants a rehearing in the Salgado murder case of Bes sie Andrews killed Thanksgiving Eve 1913. Salgado, under death sentence, had appeal denied, then a petition for rehearing granted on a single point, restoring the case to its original posture before the high court.

Fine Bunch of Steers Shipped to San Francisco Market

Hunter and Banka shipped four carloads of steers from the county to the San Francisco market this morning. The herd averaged 1525 pounds with three cattle over 1800 pounds each. The cattle had been fed all winter at the Hunter and Banks ranch using hay and grain.
