City Seeks River Flow Improvements and Sewer Plan Revisions
A proposed interceptor project aims to reduce river obstructions and improve flow by pumping where cost effective. About 250 acres near Third Avenue near the mouth of the river are excluded from relief. Council endorses engineer recommendations to regulate the river and prevent ponds, encouraging rapid, regular flow and reduced sewer overflows during storms. Reports on brick sewers show cracks in areas two years after completion, prompting acceptance of the findings and support for brick construction.
