Good Medberry Wedding at Arlington Methodist Church
Ruth Ann Good and Robert Eugene Medberry wed in a double ring ceremony at Arlington Methodist Church on Sunday October 14 at 2:00 p.m. Rev Herbert C Shaffer officiated. Attendants included matron of honor Allen Wescott and music from organist Mrs John Smith. The bride wore an organza and taffeta gown with lace and veil, bouquet of blue and white mums.

Obituary of Howard Q. Shaffer from Elgin to Wadena
Howard Quenton Shaffer born May 7 1911 on a farm near Elgin grew up in the Elgin community. He married Clara Mae Baechler on December 22 1932 and they had four children Wanda Stanley Dennis and Jon. He farmed in Elgin and near Wadena, drove a school bus, served as Notary Public and church elder, and was a livestock buyer for the Wadena Livestock Exchange until illness. He died October 12 1962 at age 51 after a heart attack at the Wadena Sale Barn. He was survived by his wife Clara and his children Wanda and three sons.

The Marion Happy Hustlers held their annual pancake supper for dads on Oct 16 at East Clermont Lath Church. Eight mothers cooked for 24 4-H members, 15 dads, and 4 guests, then the meeting installed new officers and reviewed finances. Gary Kittelson was refunded 2.85 for decorations, and Harold Hanson led the record books. A film titled Bigough for the Job was shown before departure.

The couple’s parents are Mrs Florence Fette of Elkader and Mr and Mrs Lawrence Butikofer of Elgin. The bride wore a satin gown with empire bodice lace and a chapel train. her veil was silk illusion with a Demi Pearl Crown. She carried a white Bible topped by a white orchid lilies of the valley and white ribbon. The bridal party wore gold brocade dresses with matching accessories and carried bronze and gold baby mums. The reception was for 300 in the church parlor with a four tier cake and a host of helpers.
