Obituary for Walter Wenger from Strawberry Point area
Walter Wenger son of Christian and Caroline Wenger was born May 19 1902 on the family farm near Elgin and died October 9 1962 in Manchester hospital. He married Wilma Steinmetz March 13 1943 and they ran a dry goods and grocery store in Strawberry Point from 1944 until his death. He was survived by his wife seven brothers and three sisters plus nieces nephews and many friends. Card of Thanks from the Wenger family expresses gratitude for sympathy and memorials.

Otto Earl Olson born February 15 1910 in Elgin son of Ole and Emma Olson. He lived in Clermont and Elgin high school graduate 1928 attended Upper Iowa University. He worked in Detroit in construction and at Ford Protective Police, married there and had daughter Olette Paula. Returned to Elgin 1946 built the Drive In and later married Hazel Ewing Dennison in 1953. They lived in Elgin with daughter Jennifer and son Kim Richard born September 15 1954. He died October 12 at age 52 with survivors including wife Hazel daughters Olette Schultz and Jennifer Hill son Kim and two grandchildren. sisters Ruth Nora Ida Ruby Leona and other family relations. Burial in Elgin Cemetery.

The Pleasant Valley Farm Bureau Homemakers met October 12 at Mrs. Clifford Medberry’s home with 20 members and guests. Devotions were led by Mrs. Medberry. Lake Martin demonstrated with a flannel board on Progress of Farm Legislation. District workshop reports covered healthful living, publicizing, reading, and campaign candidate study. Harvest topics and a Flower Arrangement and Drying lesson were presented. Community events include United Nations Day at the Farm Bureau building in Fayette and the annual Farm Bureau meeting Saturday night, Oct. 27.
