Arlington Iowa weekly bulletin notes publication by Hermen and Bartuner. Editor Mrs Nettie Perkins announces Thursday issues and post office mailing under federal act.
Rates listed for one year six months at $1.25 in several counties. Want ads ten cents per line with minimum charges. Weekly rate if cash with order. otherwise 50 cents. Blind ads 50 cents weekly minimum. Card of Thanks and In Memoriam cards priced at $1.00. obituaries and notices with admission charged follow regular advertising rates.
Yellow roses and bronze mums adorned the altar for the 7:30 p.m. candlelight wedding at Elgin Lutheran Church on Sunday October 8. The Rev Al Idridge Storry officiated the double ring ceremony. Parents Edwin Loftsgard Wadena and Clarence Hagelie Ossian stood with the couple as Danice Anderson Cedar Rapids played organ and Arthur Amundson Clermont sang. The bride Janice Elaine Loftsgard wore a silk bombazine gown with lace, sequin and pearl accents, a fingertip veil, and carried a white Bible with a white orchid. Maids of honor Marlene Wallner Cedar Rapids and bridesmaids Mrs Joe Frana Kenyon and Sandra Christensen West Union wore tangerine crystal peau with cascade bouquets. Best man was Clarion Hagelie.
The ceremony included attendants Joe Frana Kenyon Minn and Herbert Meyer West Union. Bridegroom Ronald Loftsgard Elgin and cousins Ushera Waylard Schweine rus Ossian attended. Guests from Kenyon Northfield Blooming Prairie Rushford Des Moines Cedar Rapids Oelwein attended. The reception hosted 360 guests with tangerine and white decorations. The couple's go‑away outfit was a brown wool suit and white orchid. The bride is Elgin High School 1966 graduate employed by Clayton County Social Welfare. the groom a 1955 West Union High School graduate employed by Calmar Manufacturing Co. Two years US Army served. Final score Valley 43 Elkader 7.

Lethaler Barbara and Charles attended a ballgame in Iowa City on Saturday with Mrs Charles Nourse Estherville accompanying them to Cedar Rapids. Dozens of neighbors and relatives from Estherville Waukon Strawberry Point West Union Sycamore and other towns visited for birthdays dinners and family gatherings over the weekend.
In a continuation from page one, Russell Wede recovered for Valley. Bob Rothlisberger surged 40 yards for Valley’s third TD on first down while Roger Torson’s extra point made it 7. Elkader answered with a 75 yard kickoff return for a TD and successful extra point to trail 37 to 7. A late fourth quarter 46 yard TD run by Rothlisberger was negated by a Valley penalty as Larry Halverson ran 48 yards on the next play.
Elgin residents hosted guests at a Sunday gathering. Attendees included Mr and Mrs Winsley with Mike and Ray Moore of Waterloo. Afternoon visitors were Mr and Mrs Ervin Nyberg and family and Myron Nutting of West Union. Northern guests and late arrivals joined in and other locals were noted.
