The first regular Progress Club meeting in Elgin was held Monday evening October 9 at the home of Mrs Clar ence Muehlethaler with thirteen members present. Guest Mrs Russell Goodell accepted an invitation to join. The program presented was A Trip to Switzerland by the guest speaker.
Poppy A J Oberhausen of La Porte City kept a French poppy he gathered in 1911 in a book during the war years. After returning home he had the specimen framed, preserving a personal memento from the conflict.
