The Marion Happy Hustlers announce nine new members added at their November 20 meeting held at the home of Gary and Steven Kittelson. Initiates were D Ann Cline Patty Amundson Keith Larson David Meyer Erling Bilden Daryl Anderson David Anderson Enoch Hanson and Curtis Anderson. Roll call featured What I Would Like To Be with 25 members present. The club planned programs for the coming year and collected dues. A Christmas drawing was held and a program on hazards and stockman skills was presented by Kendall Mark and Gary Kittelson.
Miss Mardelle West, daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert West of Strawberry Point, married Leon Streicher son of Mr Alfred Streicher of Lamont, in a candlelit ceremony at First Methodist Church Strawberry Point with Rev. Robert Smith officiating. Organist Larry Meinard and vocalist Craig Kuehl provided music.
A Strawberry Point ceremony joined a bride and Lamont groom with Marian Bilden as maid of honor and Ruth Bilden as bridesmaid. The bride wore Florentine lace tulle over Duchess satin with crystal accents and a jeweled crown. After a southern states wedding trip, the couple will reside in Lamont where the groom works for Smith Plumbing and Heating.
Mr and Mrs Merle Clark will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary with an open house on December 3 from 2 to 4 PM at Elgin Lutheran Church. Helen Kraft and Merle Clark wed December 13, 1936, at the Kraft home in Stanly. Their five children Richard Roselyn Luana Lois and Diane along with Jeanine will host. Friends and relatives invited. after a business meeting Mrs Reuben Howard read an article and Mrs Orman Bane gave a Christmas ideas demonstration. The Elgin Unit of the American Legion Auxiliary met November 21 at 2 p.m. Sixty members attended. Reports were read and approved, profits from a turkey supper were discussed, and plans included a Christmas gift exchange, a Dec 18 coffee strips drive, and December hostesses and cookie committee. Donations and memorials were noted, with various community activities and upcoming meetings listed.
The Social Hour Club met with Mrs Virgil Torson on November 1. Roll call was answered by 14 members and one guest, Pearl Peters.
