The Elgin Echo reports a December gathering hosted by M. J. Blockhus with a gift exchange and cookie contributions. Members rolled sugar rags for the hostess as part of the event planning noted for the Elgin Fayette County Iowa weekly.
The Sunnydale Club met Nov. 28 at the La Verne Larson home. Devotions were given by Mrs. La Verne Larson, America was sung by the group, Roll call was The biggest surprise we had at Christmas. Reading was Thanksgiving by Mrs. Otto Blockhus and Thankful for privileges of freedom by Mrs. Kenneth Mark. Mrs. Herbert Blockhus conducted games with prizes going to Mrs. Otto Blockhus and Mrs. Earl Seitz. Mrs. M. J. Blockhus showed homemade Christmas corsages and books and magazines with Christmas decoration ideas.

Mrs Birdie Gilman of Anthon received a 50 year membership pin and certificate from the Order of Eastern Star, marking a half century of service with the fraternal group.
The Illyria Homemakers will hold their December meeting at the home of Mrs Myrton Strong on December 8. An all day meeting with lunch at noon. Foam rubber dolls and plastic dogs will be made. Everyone welcome.

A bridal shower for Miss Sharon Pinney was held Friday evening December 1 at the Robert Musser home in West Union with Mrs. Kenneth Block as assistant hostess. Guests included Mrs. Roger Budensiek Pam and Paula Rochester Minnesota, Roger Krech St. Paul Minnesota, Mrs. Dale Boroden Lana West Union, Mrs. Lye Martin and Jeri, Mrs. Melvin Anderson Kathryn Knudison, Mrs. John Schaer, Mrs. Melvin Hanson, and Mrs. Lawrence Knudteon. Pinney, a sophomore at State College of Iowa, will wed Roger Kreck on December 23 at the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Rochester Minnesota.
Shirley M. Butikofer has been appointed administratrix of Albert Butikofer deceased of Clayton County. All debts must be paid promptly and claims presented to the administratrix or clerk for allowance at the Clerk of the District Court office. Dated November 27 1961. C F Neylan Attorney. Thore Thompson, son of Thore and Tagebierg Thompson, was born August 23, 1877, in a log cabin at the Thompson homestead near Wadena, and died in an unidentified location. The brief notice continues from page 1.

Busy Beavers 4 H met October 9 with opening pledges to the U S flag. Members voted to donate to CARE and IFYC, drew names for Christmas, and planned a joint meeting with the boys. New members Debbie Aanes and Lana Griebenow joined. A hobo party awarded prizes to Gwen Olson and Patty Amundson. Mrs Cline spoke on Inside Your Home and Gwen Olson on A Picture and the Artist. Demonstrations by Bonita and Sonja Kjosa. A Jewelry item noted.
