Farm Bureau Adopts a Number of Resolutions

The Farm Bureau Federation at its Des Moines convention adopted several resolutions. It called for maximum producer freedom, reasonable food reserves, minimal government involvement, market-determined prices, and use of productive capacity for construction. It urged floor-type supports for major storable commodities, prohibits government stock sales below 125 percent of the support price, sets aside adequate food reserves, prevents excess government stockpiling, and supports a long-term land retirement program aligned with national interest. It dismissed a nationwide anti poverty program as unnecessary and favored targeted local efforts. It backed daylight saving time only Memorial Day to Labor Day and uniform time statewide, suggested limiting legislators’ per diem to 125 days, and supported keeping the current process for electing state officers. The importance of an elected attorney general was noted.
