He is improving with the country air and sunshine expected to aid his recovery. Mrs. Floyd Harvey of Castalia visits at the home of her sister, Mrs. Harley Steele. Ed Boleyn and wife welcomed a baby girl Tuesday morning. Della Chapman is recovering from a serious operation at Dubuque hospital and hopes to return home soon. Mrs. Chas Chapman accompanied Edward Grimm and daughter Rose, who faced disappointment as their ship to Switzerland had not yet reached the American port due to a French port strike. The trip, planned to depart on the 27th, will be postponed as other steamers are full until August.

A Wadena couple, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Erickson, marked their silver wedding anniversary on Sunday evening May 6 at their home. A large group of friends and relatives attended a program with a duet, readings, and gratitude remarks. A three tiered silver cake was shared, and gifts plus a monetary purse were given.
The May 1 1945 Iowa crop report shows winter wheat production up 47 percent from 1944 due to greater acreage and higher yield outlook. Feeder cattle shipments into Iowa total 53 300 head in April and four months plus 45 percent above 1944.
