Phil H Brady son of a prominent Atlanta man eloped with Nelle A Stone. The couple aimed for Kansas City but was stopped in Oklahoma. Brady faces a charge of obtaining money under false pretenses and a forged draft. An officer will pursue them.
In Kansas City on May 14 John Shaw, formerly a Warwick Ontario banker, committed suicide by taking carbolic acid.
Judge Milburn sentences William Bailey to hang on Tuesday July 2 for the murder of John G. Barkley near Newton in Dawson county. The murder occurred November 18. Bailey was convicted on circumstantial evidence. Alonzo Freeman is sentenced to twenty five years in the state penitentiary for stealing from him last September. The jury found Freeman guilty of murder in the second degree.

At Low MAL West Bingham Pa May 16 the Pack Haskeel and Cobb mill boiler exploded killing seven men and injuring others. Names listed include Clonde Wngiish James Mowers Eugene Merrick Lyman Perry Charles ever. Some victims died later from injuries. The eighty horsepower boiler had been condemned days earlier for faulty pressure readings.
Washington May 10 reports an ugly crisis in negotiations between the United States and Great Britain over uniform regulations for governing the Ren fishery this season. Britain refuses to re enact last year's rule banning firearms on dealing vessels north of the 85th parallel during the closed season. The United States may abrogate the Paris treaty.
In Tiffin Ohio on May 16 a mad dog attacked William Kellar's flock, biting many. Nineteen sheep died instantly, nine more went mad and had to be killed. Three weeks later, the township trustees ordered Kellar to destroy the remaining 150 carcasses to prevent further spread.
Telegraph dispatch reports steam shovel at Franklin mine in operation all morning with no interference from strikers who were in a meeting. Sheriff expects no trouble as tensions ease.

Manitowoo Wisconsin on May 17 Fred Mankolil city treasurer committed suicide by shooting himself in a woodshed. He was described as a very prominent man with interests in a large elve factory in the city.

May 17 reports a Great Beave in hydrophobia panic at Dayaon North Dakota. A dog bit its owner William Kulp and several others. Dogs known to be bitten were chained or shot. two more bitten animals were killed after showing symptoms.
