Local court deals with fraud and theft cases in Fayette county

The Fayette county court records show several cases. J W Dwyer pleaded guilty to selling real estate without a license and paid a $50 fine. M Walters of Wadena was charged with larceny by embezzlement related to mortgaged property, pled guilty, and was bound over to the September grand jury with $1,000 bond. Earl Rhinen of Arlington was arrested for issuing a false $25 check, pleaded guilty, and was bound over to the September grand jury. he remains jailed unable to post bond. A decree in a separate case granted divorce on grounds of cruelty with alimony payments set, and a man named O’Connor faced liquor nuisance charges with a sentence of three months in county jail plus a $300 fine, plus potential extra jail time if the fine isn’t paid.

Died in Denver Mrs Norton of Clayton County Roots to Colorado

Raudt Houg Elgit received a message about the death of his daughter Mrs W J Norton of Denver Colorado. She married May 12 and funeral was May 18. She was forty eight, survived by her widower. Minnie Houg Norton was born April 20 1884 in Clayton County and lived nearby until 17 years ago. Many in the section will remember Mrs Norton.
