Rose Elizabeth Nelson Dies In Accidental Drowning
Rose Elizabeth Nelson fourteen months old daughter of Edwin and Mrs. Nelson died in an accidental drowning Tuesday at the John Friederich home. Found head first in a ten gallon water jar on the porch after missing for about five minutes. Coroner's inquest returned a verdict of accidental drowning. Funeral set for Thursday at the Apostolic church. Community offers sympathy to the family.

Base Ball Boys Put On Coon Feed for Cash
The baseball team needed funds to start the season and accepted Erin Holzer's offer of several coons. A coon feed fundraiser was held at the bakery Monday evening with about sixty attendees. Mattie Zunbriggen baked the coons and prepared trim mings, serving coon meat with French fries bread pickles and coffee. Net proceeds were around $16, prompting plans for future low cost events.

Forest City contractor Jim Fox who won the Elgin West Union trunk project shipped the equipment to West Union arriving Tuesday morning.
