Elgin defeated Arlington 25 23 on Arlington floor last Thursday. Ruthann Mitts led Elgin with 14 points. In the county tournament, Fayette beat Elgin 27 18 on Wednesday. Mitts again led the losers with 18. Senior play cast announced for March 27, Old Doc is the show.

Ronald Gunderson returned home on a brief furlough to his parents Mr and Mrs Harry Gunderson then left Monday for an eastern post to sail for Europe. Sunday hosted a family dinner with many relatives including the Olson, Stolle, Gunderson, Bilden and Rose families from Postville, Maynard and West Union. Numerous visits and dinners followed at homes across the area with many friends noted. A birthday picnic at Art Olson s home and several hospitality events are listed along with church and school activities.
