Nine regional soil conservation speech contests will be held in July with county winners advancing to the regional event in Manchester on July 19. Norman Kilburn of West Union will represent Fayette County. Regional winners receive cash prizes and the state winner earns a $100 prize plus a $250 college scholarship. The 1964 state winner was Gary Roeve of Laurens Iowa.

200 Senior High Attend Youth Day
A total of 200 senior high delegates attended the North Iowa Methodist Youth Fellowship event. The conference, drawn from 422 churches across 52 counties, featured Bishop James S.
