Birthday Club gathered Thursday afternoon at the Boleyn home to honor a member. Present were Mrs. Grace Evans, George Vaughn, Co. T. Fjelstul, Ide Cummings, Bertha Lehman, Ida Pulfer, Met ta Krueger, Ann Howard, and Louise Butikofer. Absent but sharing gifts were Mrs. Leon Sheppard and Clara Muehlethaler. One guest, Hulde Nydegger, also attended.
Mildred BR Blau of Waterloo died at Waterloo hospital on July 2 after sickness dating to 1964. She was born March 11, 1916 in Clayton County and was the daughter of Lydia Odegard and the late Charles Odegard. Baptism and early life details are listed.
Church Gunder of Waterloo died aged decades after a life in rural Clayton County. She lived in Waterloo with her husband Wantent Bisu, was a Lutheran church member, and was survived by her mother four sisters Verna Nutting Ione Nyberg Zeilma Dennis JoAnn Odegard and two brothers LaVern Glenn. Funeral held at Elgin Lutheran Church with burial at Marien Cemetery.

Lockport, Lansing, Rock Island and Carpentersville relatives attended a Grimm family reunion. It was the first time in almost three years all of Mr and Mrs John Grimm’s children were together. Attendees included 26 of 29 grandchildren and six of seven great grandchildren.
Fayette County Board of Education sets election areas for board members per a June 28 1965 motion. Areas include Valley, North Fayette, Turkey Valley, Dover Rural Districts, Delwein, Fayette and West Central districts, plus all non high school and community districts. An election occurs on the second Monday in September 1965 for areas 3 and 4. Secretary R L Hansen signs.
A field rep notes that a widow and an elderly mother may qualify for benefits based on a deceased husband or son's Social Security record. Check with the Social Security Administration to see if credits exist from railroad or military service and whether survivor benefits apply if support depended largely on the worker.
The fourth Martie reunion was held July 4 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Butikofer in Alpha with 51 attendees, including Mr. and Mrs. Louie Martie of Osage and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Reierson and Greg of Walker. Also listed were Mr. and Mrs. Don Hock.

Mr and Mrs Derry Leonhart and family returned home Sunday July 4 from a week in New York visiting the Empire State Building United Nations Statue of Liberty Radio and TV City they attended the World’s Fair spent a day at Gettysburg and viewed the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia On their return they were luncheon guests of Mr and Mrs Joe Tousignant and family and Stan Anderson at Elkhart Ind
Center Street Birthday Club members gathered at Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Butikofer’s Alpha home for a picnic dinner honoring Mrs. Butikofer’s birthday. Attending were Mrs. C. B. Schori, Walter Lehman, CC, C. Torkelson, John Grimm, Stella Boyle, Anne Dennier, Bettina Halverson, Marie Kohls, Harry Everett, and Erroll.
Ardith Weston and Gerald L Olson wed June 29 at St Pauls Methodist Church Elgin in a double ring ceremony. Attendants wore pink and blue, a 100 guest reception followed, with a pink rose cake and a bride who crafted her brocaded taffeta gown. The couple will reside at Boyle Trailer Court West Union.

Mrs. Leo Gage and Vernie of Evansdale. Mrs. Geo Schup bach and Chuckie hosted Sunday at Lewis 0. Butikofer home. Vernon Wede family visited John Kelly home in Jesup. Various residents visited friends in Clermont Cedar Rapids Marion Grundy Center and Maywood Illinois.
Mr and Mrs Carl Hackmann and many relatives hosted a reunion and guests from Davenport Cedar Rapids Wadena Avon Lake Ohio and Marion. Sunday dinners included the Erickson and Halverson families and the Andersons while several friends and neighbors joined for a weekend visit and coffee gatherings last week in the area.
