The Elgin Lutheran Church Women held a Cradle Roll program on June 17 in the Fellowship Hall. Hostesses included Mrs. Fred Butikofer and others. Mrs. Lyle Martin was pianist. Graduates performed songs and finger plays. new cradle roll members and babies were noted. Devotions from Lamentations and prayers framed the meeting. youth activity was the month’s focus.
Mrs Reuben Howard hosted a surprise birthday party Friday afternoon for Mrs Ern Holzer with guests including Mesdames Reuben Schupbach Carl Torkelson Louis Lehman Lawrence Grimm Thomas Howard Co. O. Christ R. P. Strauch Herbert Ash Cornelius Reiers on Kathryn Brabham George Vaughn Lena Cooley and Miss Ernestine Holzer. The group presented a monetary gift and Mrs Howard served a birthday lunch.
The Bilden Carlson reunion gathered at Fennimore Wisconsin on June 18 for a noon picnic and business meeting. Elected for next year were President Rudy Haskee of Monroe and Sec treas Louise Bilden of Clermont. Attendees included Orville Kammerud Melvin Clausen Paul Thompson Curtis Thompson and David Haskee Orville Hanson Robert Larson Lester Everson and Carl.
John Breckin born June 16 1882 in Pleasant Valley Township died June 1961 at University Hospitals in Iowa City at age 79. He married Louise Miller March 15 1905. Surviving are seven sons Wesley Edward Frank Irvin John Jr Lawrence and Richard and five daughters Edna Marie Deriene Verna plus many relatives.
Circle Mary officers and committees listed including Mrs. Donald Gardner and Mrs. Rex Mulford with roles. Past months show June hostessing and October co hostessing. Program chair is Mrs Archie Howard with monthly notes and names of additional members and workers.
