The Marion AL CW met in the church parlors at 2 pm on June 21 with Beautiful Savior sung. Devotions and Bible study were led by Mrs. Tillman Thompson. Youth was stressed. prior June 13 the auxiliary treated Vacation Bible school pupils. Cradle Roll program featured singing by children and enrolled seven youngsters. Several children were listed for graduations and Sunday school entries for fall.
Worship offering meditation was read by Mrs. Morris Amundson. Next meeting will be July 12. Miss Julia Whettleson served as Bible study leader.
The Illyria Clipperettes met at the Illyria Church on June 21. President Iva Feller opened with the pledges while 21 members shared how they helped with home furnishing projects. Four guests attended. Secretary Mary Ann Metzger reported. The club voted to pay 2.50 per girl for Pine Bluff 4 H Camp. A bake sale is planned July 14 at the Elgin Library with items to arrive after supper and each person to bring 2.00. Committees were appointed for library access Melissa Moore price marking Ian the Strong Gayle Kleppe postor Diana Reeder and Ricky Cook. Next month includes a furniture store tour in Elka der and swimming. Local Achievement Show is set for Thursday August 2. Diana Reeder and Santha Strong demonstrated simple curtains. Sharon Martin and Wanda Martin demonstrated flower arranging. Melissa Moore and Myrna Moore demonstrated refinishing new wood. Lunch was served by Mary Beth Larson and Laura Lee Wenger with Iantha Strong as reporter.
Barbara Kay Hunsberger and Clarion Jerome Hagelie united in marriage Sunday June 24 at 7 30 p m in the Elgin Lutheran church. The Rev Casper Fjelstul performed the double ring ceremony. Parents are Mr and Mrs Mervin Hunsberger and Mr and Mrs Clarence Hagelie Ossian. James Casterton Decorah sang with accompaniment by Mrs Donald Frank Spring Valley Minn. The bride wore nylon organza over net and taffeta with a circlet neckline and a butterfly bow. She carried a white Bible topped with roses.
The ceremony featured maid of honor Phyllis Hunsberger and bridesmaids including Mrs. Joseph Frana and Mina Adams. Attendants wore ice pink taffeta dresses with full skirts and bow hats while pink floral fans complemented the decor. Relatives served as best man and groomsmen, with Jody Frana as ring bearer and Debra Frank as flower girl. Guests were seated by Joseph Frana and Roger Berg as others tended to candles and reception duties. The bride’s going away ensemble was a rose sheath dress with white accessories. A four tiered white cake with pink roses marked the reception in church parlors, with numerous relatives and locals from Cedar Rapids to Decorah assisting in hosting and gifts.
The Loftsgard family reunion met Sunday at Elkader fairgrounds on June 24, 1962, drawing 88 attendees. After lunch a brief business meeting elected officers including President Mrs. Keith Brainard and Vice President Mrs. Lloyd Loftsgard, with several Reierson, Loftsgard, Landsgard, Amundson, Sehnei and related family members present.
A miscellaneous shower for bride elect Elaine Hellum was hosted at Elgin Lutheran Church on Friday evening June 15. Guests included Dorothy Hellum and Jean Hellum from Waterloo and Postville, with many gifts and games provided by Dorothy Hellum and Mrs. Keith Johnson.
Funeral services were held for Mrs Ethel Anderson 82 who died Monday in Palmer Memorial hospital. Interment followed in West Union cemetery. Born May 19 1880 at Elkader she taught in Clayton county and married Andrew N Anderson in 1903. They farmed near Postville Clermont Elgin and West Union. Surviving are four children and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Putnam 4-H held its annual tour Monday with all but three members attending. County extension director Mr Wang ness attended the tour and provided many suggestions and tips on showing animals. Next meeting set for July 9 at Lamont with Oelrich and Graham as hostesses.

A Holstein breeders picnic is planned at Stewart Farm in Fayette with Dean Floyd Andre of the University as speaker. The gathering centers on Holstein cattle and farm interests, indicating an educational and social focus for local breeders.
Clayton County Extension Calendar lists two upcoming items. On Tuesday July 3, the County Council Extension Council meets at 8 pm in the Extension office in El Kader. On Friday July ? an achievement show is scheduled for 1:30 at Norway Lutheran Church.
