Tax Commission Moves To Tougher Tax Enforcement In Iowa

Three cases filed this year mark the first ever by the commission against delinquent filers, with Polk and Linn counties hosting suits. More actions expected as the 1934 law remains in force and enforcement tightens. Truck violations: over 90 percent of 450 trucks stopped in a three day gas tax drive carried over 20 tax free gallons. 410 found in violation. 5 cents per gallon due on excess. Total revenue from the drive was 944.34 dollars on 18,887 gallons.
