Funeral services for Harry F. Reichert 86 of West Union were held at Muehlethaler Funeral Home and Bethel Presbyterian Church on Saturday June 11 after sudden death at his farm. Born September 26 1888 near Wig in Illyria township he married Elma Meyer in 1922. They lived on his parents farm before moving near West Union where they remained. Survivors include one son Lyle two daughters Lavon and Lois and a widow, plus one sister Mrs J T Colgrove and a half brother.

Marion Mission Society Meeting In June Reports
The Marion Mission Society met Thursday in June with a program about Cradle Rail month. Attendees included Morris Nellie Hanson Marvin Staake Ida Leuchtenmacher and Clarence Anderson. Devotions were led by Mrs Harold Opsand and Bible study by Mrs Mervin Reierson assisted by several members. WMF convention reports were presented by Mrs Reierson and Mrs Cornelius Reierson. The program featured readings by Mrs Kenneth Mark songs by children recitations and closing with a birthday song for five members.

Church Celebrates Golden Anniversary in Elkader
Peace Evangelical and Reformed Church of Elkader marked its golden anniversary on Sunday June 19. Founded in 1905 after purchasing the Methodist Episcopal building, it later built a new church in 1928 and added a parsonage in 1938. The 50 year record shows about 950 members, 176 women’s guild, 243 in Sunday school, and 2,242 baptisms, 1,044 confirmands, 915 marriages, 1,095 deaths. Henry Freitag remains the sole living charter member.
