Mayor proclaims a July 13 1950 special election in Elgin to decide a waterworks plan. Voters assess a property tax levy and up to 5000 dollars in bonds with annual taxes for repayment. Polls open 8 AM to 8 PM at Town Hall with official ballot outlining Yes or No choices.
Elgin residents Mr. and Mrs. Leo Schori and Leo Jr. dined Sunday with Harold Albrecht in Dubuque and visited Paul Watters. Chas. Wenger spent Monday in Cedar Rapids. Delegates from the local Lions Club attended the state convention. The Robert Larson family from Minneapolis will visit Alta Klingman and Libbie Larson. Carroll Klingman dined with them Sunday. Joe Kjosa is confined to the Veterans hospital in Des Moines for treatment, after two minor operations, ward 7A.
Miss Shirley Marie Glass and Russell E Schetgen joined in marriage at the First Lutheran church in Manchester on Sunday evening June 11. The bride wore a white Chantilly lace gown with a cathedral veil and carried fleur d'amour with an orchid. maid of honor Margie Dennler and bridesmaids wore orchid gowns. The groom's party included best man John Sass and ushers Alan Spensley and Harold Glass. Out-of-town guests came from Dubuque Elgin West Union and Chicago. The couple will reside in Dubuque after a wedding trip.
