Donald Jones of Clear Lake fell about 20 feet while painting the Osceola water tower. A hole was cut in the bottom of the tank and he was removed on a sling as rescuers worked to free him.

At Sioux Center Mr and Mrs Henry Wonk sr observed their sixtieth anniversary on May 31 They were both born in America and arrived in 1902 marking six decades together with family and friends in the community.

Remembering Dr. C G C Fothergill and local notes

Dr C G C Fothergill died Monday morning after a long active career begun in 1694 at Elgin. Funeral services were held at the home and Hilyria cemetery with Rev E J Star officiating. Local residents Mary Patterson Lillian Patterson Cedar Falls Mary Hanson Hulda Berg Verna Yunker Bess Johnson Mabel Dummermuth and Haith Grether will enroll for the summer session at Upper Iowa. The SW Kuster family of Correctionville visited Mrs Ben Schori. C O Christ and Chas Capper families drove to Decorah for the Legion picnic. J W Baumgartner and wife had a head on collision in a dust storm near Rock Valley. Mrs Baumgartner injured. Verle Kneil visited Des Moines. Nicklaus Rennison returned from Iowa City where he studies pre med at the State University. Fred Kohler went to Davenport for Mason Grand Lodge meeting. Walter Falk attended Fayette as best man. Max Thoma limped in with a bandaged foot and oversized shoe, refusing to explain. A farewell party for Clarence Schori ended with trips to Clermont and Spud Sanders cottage at Postville for a shower.

Obituary and Camp Fire Council Fire Event in Madison

Christian Frederick August Holzer, 62, died May 26 at his Madison South Dakota home after a stroke. He worked in concrete bridge construction and built 260 bridges in one county. Survived by widow, adopted daughter, cousin Mabel Holzer of Elgin, and others. Funeral May 30 in Madison. A Camp Fire Girls council fire was held May 39 at the school grounds with a Discovery Unlimited theme and various rank and merit recognitions.

Death of Mrs Sorom at Rushford Minnesota

Mrs Earl Sorom of Rushford Minnesota died Monday afternoon May 22 at Lutheran hospital La Crosse Wisconsin. Funeral services were held Thursday at Rushford Lutheran church. Born June 20 1885 in Marion township Clayton county she was the daughter of Gilbert and Regina Nass. She married Earl Sorom October 8 1914 and left three sons Lloyd James and Earl Jr. Also survived by two sisters Helen Blockhus and Mabel Torkelson and one granddaughter Mary Sorom. She was preceded by her parents and sister Gertie.
