Elgin Lodge and Rebekah Lodge Install Officers in Joint Event

The Elgin Odd Fellows and Rebekahs held a joint installation at their hall last Friday. District Deputy Grand Officers attended. H. T Knudson installed NG for OOF and Grace Evans NG for the Rebekahs. A fine supper followed by cards and social time. The Echo notes other local items, including funeral attendance for Hull Brabham and a Legion and Odd Fellows turnout for a St Pauls Methodist Church service.

Benson hit 3 late baskets to seal the win as Elgin rallied from a 13 4 first quarter deficit and Arlington led 27 22 entering the final period. Howard led Elgin with 12. Behrens had 9 for Arlington.

Wadena Community Club Meeting Features Varied Program

The Wadena Community Club gathered in the gym Monday night for a brief business session and a lively program. Sidney Corbin played a saxophone solo, Marilana and Sara Ogle performed a piano duet, Frances Larson and Joyce Erickson sang a vocal duet, Gary Jellings played trumpet, Mrs. Ralph Shaffer read, Robert Whittenbaugh Jr. gave a piano solo, Beverly Chine sang, the Earle brothers offered musical numbers, Mardell Keifer played a piano solo, Arla Shaffer sang, and ten men and ten women participated in a spelling contest. Lunch followed as visits to Ben Hulbert’s home noted improvements after a fall. Mr and Mrs Arnold Dunn announced Earl Lane and Ethel Warner’s marriage at Wolgarso Methodist parsonage. Dinner guests included Elgie Forgerson, Ed Scheffert, Mrs Iram Pixler, Verdell Hulbert and others from Monona and Castalia.
