Town meeting considers park and band plans

Dozen members discussed bills and the municipal park question. Chairman Thoma appointed a committee to present the proposition to the town council. Rev Star proposed sponsoring a boy scout movement. The band issue was raised and organizers were assigned. Mr and Mrs Wm Sutter hosted a large gathering to honor Mrs Elmer Bunter as she prepared to depart for Roanoke Illinois.

Norwegian immigrant Olsen dies after stroke in McGregor

Asbjorn Olsen, born Kristiania 1883, emigrated to America in 1909, settled near Elgin and later McGregor. He married Anna Ostegard in 1913, had a son Olaf, a grandson Errol, and several siblings in Norway. He died January 5, 1951, after a final illness, with funeral services held January 7 at Pilkington parlors. Corn prices may rise. fertilizer shortages expected. a year’s feed costs about 3.50 to 5.00 per ton.
