Elgin Lutheran Church Women Meet in Fellowship Hall

The Elgin Lutheran Church Women gathered February 16 in the fellowship hall with hostesses Mrs. Elmer Meyer Mrs. Glen Medberry and others. Mrs. Russell Wenger led devotionals and the group elected Mrs. Russell Wenger as delegate for the Spring Convention in Decorah. An appreciation dinner for teachers is planned in April and officers including historian Mrs. Allen Anderson librarian Mrs. Glen Medberry and Worship Offering Leader Mrs. Dean DeSart were named.

Celebrate 50th Wedding Anniversary at St Pauls Lutheran

Mr and Mrs Lawrence Welzel of Postville celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house at St Pauls Lutheran Church in Postville on February 19. About 200 guests attended including relatives from St Paul Minnesota and visitors from Monroe Luana Clermont and Elgin. The event featured a program by grandchildren Pestor Witt and assistant Pastor Silvius.

Gwen Olson presented a cooked cereal demonstration at the Busy Beavers 4-H meeting held February 6 at Vera Coffin's. Twenty five members and twenty guests attended. The program included talks on a complete plate for breakfast, a breakfast fruit, a quick nutritious breakfast, setting a buffet table, and writing a breakfast menu correctly. Valentines cookies were exchanged by the girls. Lunch was served by Mrs. Coffin and Loren Olson.

Pleasant Point Study Club Meeting Minutes

The Pleasant Point Study Club met Tuesday afternoon February 14 at Mrs. Harry Feller's home. Members exchanged home made valentines and hungers for drip dry clothing. A note from County Home matron Caldwell thanked the club for a gift and invited a home tour planned for March 7. The next meeting is March 14 with Mrs. Merton Strong.

Irene Swanson and Chuck Christianson wed at Gunder Lutheran Church on February 4 at 2 p.m. The double ring ceremony was led by Rev. Henry Mathie. The bride, given by her father Harold Swanson, wore a white satin brocade gown with portrait neckline and chapel train, with blush silk veil and pink roses. Attendants wore Romance blue brocade, with white gloves and lace veils. Best man and groomsman were Larry Butikofer and Les Lembke. guests seated by Dizme Kurdelmeyer and Craig.
