The Elgin Echo in Elgin Iowa is published weekly every Thursday by Hermen and Bartuner. It is entered as second class mail matter September 1 1891 at the Elgin post office under the 1852 act.
The Friendship Birthday Club met at the home of Mrs Metta Krueger on Monday afternoon to help her celebrate her birthday. Present were Mormis, Leon Shepard, Ida Pulfer, Ed Boleyn, C. T. Fjelstul, Louis Butikofer, George Vaughn, Grace Evans and Lena Wenger. Mrs Thamas Howard, Mrs Bertha Lehman and Mrs Ida Cummings contributed to the gift but could not attend.
Clayton County Extension Calendar lists events in Elkader Guttenberg and Elkader Municipal building. Friday February 19 shows Make-up Refinishing demonstrations from 10 to 3 at the Extension office Elkader. Wednesday February 24 features Stitchery Lesson at Guttenberg Municipal building 10 to 3. Thursday February 25 offers 4 H Leaders Organization meeting Elkader Municipal building 1 pm and 7 30 pm.
Mrs Earl Lembke was hostess to the Center Street birthday club Monday evening in her home. Present to help her celebrate were Lehman, Nilsen, Timm, Sadie DeSart, Stella Boyle, Harry Johnson, Bettina Halverson, Anne Dennler and C O Torkelson.
The Town and Country Card Club gathered Saturday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Howard. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Mike Dinan and Mr. and Mrs. Hilly Bennett. Prizes: ladies high Mrs. Roger Frieden, ladies second Mrs. Louis Becker Jr, ladies low Mrs. Billy Bennett, men high Louis Becker Jr, men second Clifford Medberry, men low Dale Seitz, Larry Butikofer won traveling.
Elgin locals share weekend hospitality with relatives and friends across Muscatine Decorah Clermont and Dubuque areas. Numerous callers visit Ole Reiserson and nearby homes while families gather for suppers birthdays and church events.
